Yamunotri

The Dayara Bugyal Trek is widely celebrated as one of India’s finest beginner-friendly Himalayan trails, famed for its sweeping high-altitude alpine meadows. Located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, this trek reaches a maximum summit altitude of 3,700 metres (12,139 feet) and spans a round-trip distance of roughly 21 to 24 kilometers. The trek unfolds across a vast expanse of lush undulating grasslands—”Bugyal” translating to meadow in the local dialect—and presents jaw-dropping, clear views of legendary Himalayan giants like Mt. Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikanth, and the Gangotri Range.

Gangotri

Gangotri is the highly revered spiritual town marking the descent of Goddess Ganga to Earth and stands as the second stop in Uttarakhand’s sacred Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. Situated at an elevation of 3,100 metres (10,200 feet) along the banks of the Bhagirathi River in the Uttarkashi district, it features a striking white granite temple enveloped by the majestic, snow-capped peaks of the Greater Himalayan Range.

Kedarnath

Kedarnath is the most remote and physically demanding shrine of the Chota Char Dham circuit, serving as the majestic home of Lord Shiva. Perched at a breathtaking altitude of 3,584 metres (11,755 feet) in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, it features a grand, 1,000-year-old stone temple standing against the stark backdrop of the snow-clad Kedarnath and Kedar Dome peaks. It holds unparalleled significance as the highest of India’s 12 sacred Jyotirlingas and the primary site among the Panch Kedar temples.

Badrinath is the crown jewel and final destination of the Chota Char Dham circuit, serving as the sacred abode of Lord Vishnu. Perched at an altitude of 3,133 metres (10,279 feet) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, this holy town rests between the towering Nar and Narayana mountain peaks alongside the banks of the Alaknanda River. Distinct from the other Dhams, Badrinath is completely motorable, requiring no rigorous long-distance trekking to reach the main shrine.

Situated at an altitude of 1,220 metres (4,003 feet), it serves as the core diversion structure for Stage I of the critical Maneri Bhali Hydroelectric Project. Beyond its vital role in the region’s green energy infrastructure, the dam has evolved into a popular offbeat pitstop for pilgrims and travelers trekking along the scenic route toward the Gangotri Dham shrine.
